E-commerce (online store)

How to enable or disable the online store, and what you can configure to sell over the internet.

The system can run purely as a counter Point of Sale, or add the online store on top — you switch it on or off with a single toggle, without losing anything you've already loaded.

Enabling or disabling the online store

  1. Go to Settings → Site (the "Site" tab inside Settings).
  2. Find the "Online store (ecommerce)" field.
  3. Choose Enable or Disable.
  4. Save your changes.

When it's disabled, the public catalogue and checkout stop being available to customers — but the admin panel and the counter Point of Sale keep working exactly the same, with no limitations. You can use the system as a pure POS and switch the online store on later when you're ready, without losing products, customers or settings.

What you can configure for the online store

Once it's enabled, these are the related areas that define how your store sells:

Payment methods

  • Cash on delivery: under Settings → Site, switched on or off separately (the "Cash on Delivery" field).
  • Online payment gateways: under Settings → Site, a master toggle ("Online Payment Gateway") enables the use of gateways; the credentials for each one (Stripe, PayPal, Mercado Pago, and so on) are entered under Settings → Payment gateways (see Settings).
  • Store credit: whether returns generate credit that can be used as a payment method is defined under Settings → Site (see also Customers).

Shipping

Under Settings → Shipping settings you define how shipping is charged on online orders:

  • Flat rate: a fixed shipping cost for any order.
  • Per product: the shipping cost is calculated from the products in the cart.
  • Per area: the cost varies by delivery zone.
  • You can also set a default shipping cost for when no specific rule applies.

Store appearance

The visual side (colours, typography, banners) is customised under Appearance — see Store appearance.

Catalogue, promotions and homepage sections

  • Products: the catalogue shown in the store is the same one the POS uses — see Products.
  • Coupons, promotions and flash sales: see Coupons and promotions.
  • Product sections: under Promotions → Product Sections you build the blocks on the store homepage (for example "Featured" or "New arrivals"), choosing which products appear in each.

The customer experience

How your customers browse, pay and track their orders is documented in Shopping in the store and Customer account.
